Internet Direct is an online and telephone retailer of consumer electronics. Poor management had resulted in excessive overheads, leading to administration in 2003.
In February 2004, EPIC Adventures invested £0.6 million, backing management to grow the company from a smaller overhead base.
IT development and infrastructure was brought in-house, whilst staffing was reduced and redundancies were mitigated by internal promotion. Product offerings were diversified and a more intelligent and cost-conscious marketing plan was enacted, concentrating on search engine optimisation.
After only 3 months trading post administration, EPIC Adventures exited to Nomatica, a French retailer which has since become Expansys. On exit, EPIC Adventures achieved an IRR of 175.5%.

Kilgour French and Stanbury
Kilgour French and Stanbury is a Savile Row tailor, founded in 1885, offering a traditional bespoke suit and shirt making service.
In September 2003, EPIC Private Equity supported a management buyout of the company, investing £0.3 million.
The investment allowed the management team to extend the brand and launch a complementary, more scalable ready-to-wear range. The strategy was highly successful, with ready-to-wear sales shortly thereafter outstripping bespoke sales and with minimal cannibalisation between the two lines.
In February 2008, EPIC Private Equity completed the exit of Kilgour to JMH Lifestyle, achieving an IRR of 47%.
